Content Marshfield Clinic Rice Lake Center offers both primary and specialty care and draws patients from throughout northwestern Wisconsin. Physicians also help serve patients at Marshfield Clinic locations in Chetek and Spooner. Enjoy the life in a small town while practicing medicine at a tertiary care facility. Options for training include primary care, and medical and surgical subspecialties. During the week, you work in the clinic with the family medicine MD with whom you may be on call. Your schedule will be adapted to the attending/dept. with whom you are assigned. You may work with a different M.D. each 2 weeks in duration. One-week rotations in some areas are obtainable if planned with the site Education Coordinator in some subspecialist's practices, if desired. Rounds are informal before clinic. However, rounding early enables you to write orders and participate more. In general, your orders are followed just as M.D.'s would be and co-signed later by your attending. Emphasis is placed on teaching you to apply your "book knowledge" to practical clinical patient care.
Prerequisites Planning of your rotation choices - a minimum of 4 weeks before starting.
Methods CLINICS/HOSPITALS: The Rice Lake Center consists of a variety of Family Medicine, Internal Medicine and many subspecialty physicians. It is a great experience to observe the dynamics (medically and administratively) of a busy clinic. Some experience may be scheduled at regional clinics.
Materials Provided Convertible (wireless tablet), local pager
Expectations Your assigned experiences will include call responsibilities with assigned attending.
Evaluating A mid-rotation and cumulative evaluation will be completed by the preceptor based on all attendings input involved in the clinical and academic experiences.
